Rode Hard, Put Up Wet

Two slightly different edits of a shot I took this morning out at the Denver Art Museum. Basically I moved the light a little. Which do you like better?

  1. Thx. I think you’re right about the second version. There’s a lot going on in the shot and the lighten on the scooter helps the eye know what to look at.

  2. I like the top one. After reading what you and Denny said, I went back and looked again. I’m a sucker for contrast and I’ve still got to go for the top one. Both are good, though.
There’s also the feeling that the foreground and scooter are more solid, more real in the top one because of the darker presentation.
Like Denny, I really appreciate the diagonal composition. The way you just stick that tire into the bottom-left corner is wonderful.

  3. Whoops. Bottom-right corner. Amber just walked in and ruined my concentration. She also says the diagonal “activates the picture-plane. He gets an A+.”
