Day 2 of Doors Open Denver was imminently more successful than Day 1, owing in large part to nicer weather – which made for better shooting not only outdoors, but indoors as well if you were anywhere near a window.
It’s going to take forever to wade through the hundreds of shots I got today, but here’s a little something to get us started. This is in the atrium at the Wellington Webb Building. And boy howdy, do I love architecture and design and art. Above is a process that’s finished off with a Kodak Ultra Color 100UC filter. Below – a highly (overly?) dramatized HDR output, just for fun.

the second shot isn’t HDRy.. it’s just better white balanced.. people always say that HDR is too “tonemapped” or whatever.. when properly used, as above, it makes the shot better….

I tried to dial it way back so it didn’t look overcooked. Looking at it next to the other one, it actually looks less cooked. The film grain filter is pretty heavy.

I like the warmth you added to the top image – is that pattern repeated in the rug as well, or is that a reflection through the art installation? Did you take an image from underneath the plumb line? You captured an enormous amount of information in that image. It drove me out onto the web to learn more about the building… not many interior shots of this space, none like yours. Submit it somewhere. 🙂

I like them both very much. Well done.

The pattern isn’t in the carpet – that’s the light coming through the circular glass piece at the base of the sculpture. I took shots underneath it, yes, and from every angle imaginable. Just wait until you see the ones that emphasize that color spot on the floor.
